Until 2019, Castlewood vintage wines were always Cuvées of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunièr and Chardonnay. In 2022 we decided to separate a parcel of Pinot Meunier and create a single variety sparkling wine from this very special vintage. Compared with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier is more generous and fruit forwards, with age it developed notes of toasted nuts and baking spice. This is the path we decided to take this vintage.

The juice from the first press is cold settled then fermented in oak in our cool cellar temperatures, it is then allowed to develop for a further two winters in barrel, prior undergoing secondary fermentation in bottle for a minimum of 24 months. Like all Castlewood sparkling wines, this Pinot Meunier undergoes no fining or filtration and is bottled under gravity.

TASTING NOTES

100% Pinot Meunier

Deep golden yellow with exceptionally fine bead. Ripe orchard fruits and baked apple, layer with hints of brioche, hazelnut and acacia honey. An exceptionally long finish.
